The universe functions in a rhythm. Align with that rhythm and feel well. Consistently ignore that rhythm and feel dis-ease. Having a good night’s sleep is one of those things that is essential to our well-being. Sleep well and you are in a good mood, upbeat, productive, alive. Don’t have it and you are likely to be crabby, unfocused, exhausted unhappy. In fact in Ayurveda, sleep is one of the three pillars of health which means it is essential for a heal
Nope, I am not talking about the gas you put in your car’s gas tank. I am talking about the gas that comes out your rear end. For some people it happens a lot, for some nice and quiet, others embarrass themselves with deadly smells…. whatever it is for you, gas is not right no matter what form. Gas is a widespread issue, probably even more so than research could ever show. Even when asked, folks might not tell the truth about their flatulence issues. It’s too embarrassing!!
If you are a health conscious individual you are likely trying your best to eat right, exercise well, and take the right vitamins and herbs. One day you hear new research on the radio about vitamin X and food Z and you think “I should probably eat more of that too. They say it’s supposed to be good for ya, so it’s gotta be good for me too!” At first sight a good idea. I thought this myself before many times many years ago before studying all that nutrition and lifestyle stu

When I first arrived in America about 16 years ago, I was awestruck by the size of the local supermarket, I think it was a Safeway. Or Albertson’s? Or was it a Smith’s? Being from Germany I was used to shops that measured the size of the cereal aisle in an American supermarket. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed by the exorbitant number of products that were on display. I spent hours roaming the market trying to figure out what it was that all the boxes and jars contained.
Having No Symptoms is healthy. But what symptoms should you be looking for? It may be hard to believe, but I can actually say that I grew up in a most amazing family. My parents were loving, I got along with my sister (at least most of the time), I had enough food, had great fun and I got to study (I loved going to school; am I weird?) Despite all those great things there was this gnawing sense of “something isn’t quite right or enough”. That was in my earl
The other day, my shopping cart was full of greens, mostly leafy greens. Actually, it wasn’t only full, it was overflowing. Cucumbers, kale, dandelion greens, sunflower sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, swiss chard, mustard greens, celery, spirulina, nettles. A green delight for the eyes, for sure. I picked them based on intuition. That’s pretty much how I do all my shopping. I ask my body “What do you need this week” and it tells me. It provides for a very easeful shopping experienc
Five percent of the world’s population suffers from depression. It is common after giving birth aka postpartum depression and when transitioning through menopause. Then there is seasonal affective disorder where depression rises with the lack of sunlight. Followed by severe depression in the form of bipolar disorders and manic depressive illness. Depression is a common human experience. Getting out of depression depends a lot on what choice we make. Are we choosing the light or the darkness. Th
I don’t know about you but I have been completely melting in this summer heat. And the sun keeps feeling sharper every year, too. Yikes!!! Being from Germany, my body just doesn’t operate well in the summer heat. Plus, I am a Pitta (aka fire type) by nature, am in Pitta phase of life and used to live in a cold climate before hanging out in California so my body wasn’t used to the heat. Plus … there is no air conditioning where I live. Pitta constitution + Pitta pha
